Ima Jean Cecchel, age 94, passed from this life peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2020, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was born to Charlie M. Franks and Bertha Marie (Capehart) Nichols on September 28, 1925, in Okemah, Oklahoma.
Ima Jean graduated from Okemah High School at the age of sixteen and then took a bus to California, where she spent the majority of her life in the Bakersfield and Pine Grove area. She worked for the County as a Treasurer Clerk, and she volunteered for the Kern County Fair in California for sixteen years. Her two brothers enlisted in the service, so it encouraged Ima Jean to find a way to help with the war effort. She took a job cutting sheet metal and assisting in the fabrication of warships. Ima Jean and her husband, Albert, enjoyed running their garage, where they serviced Alfa Romeo cars. She loved flowers, especially roses, sewing, and was an excellent quilt maker.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert John Cecchel; parents, Charlie M. Franks, and Bertha Marie (Capehart) Nichols; brothers, Eugene Clayton Franks, and Billy Franks; half-sisters, Charlene Franks Carlton and Freda Franks Tobin. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends that are sure to miss her.
